We’re looking for a Lead Strategic Financial Analyst to join our Finance team across North America, reporting to the Director, Strategic Finance & Insights and working directly with the VP Finance and CFO. You will tackle complex, cross-functional business questions that require curiosity, sound judgment and a willingness to navigate ambiguity. You will work across multiple areas of the business, gaining exposure to different business models, revenue streams and strategic priorities. You will take on questions that require you to connect the dots, build analysis from the ground up and bring a clear point of view to senior leadership.

Please note: This role is open across (Location) and requires you to be available to work within EST/EDT hours.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Take on complex, open-ended questions that span multiple parts of the business and bring structure to ambiguity;

  • Understand how our different businesses make money, identify the key drivers of growth, and assess whether that growth is sustainable, connecting the individual business performance to the broader consolidated picture;

  • Build financial models and analysis from the ground up to answer strategic questions and support business decisions;

  • Find, access and validate the data you need, including working directly with SQL and BI tools when the answer isn’t readily available;

  • Improve forecasting across the business, both in-year and long-range, by strengthening methodologies and key drivers, increasing accuracy, and making the process more efficient and easier to explain;

  • Own the monthly and quarterly finance rhythm, partnering closely with business teams on reviews and reporting while maintaining a consistent standard across all areas of the business;

  • Challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and turn complex analysis into clear recommendations for the Director, Strategic Finance & Insights, VP Finance, CFO and business leaders.

What you need to bring:

We’re a team within Finance responsible for helping Lightspeed understand what is driving our business today, where it is going next, and what we should do about it. This role sits at the intersection of strategic finance, data and business analysis, with exposure across Lightspeed’s software, payments, capital and hardware businesses.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring structure to ambiguous or unowned problems;

  • Sound financial modelling skills, including building driver-based models and three-statement analysis from the ground up;

  • Experience working with data directly, including SQL or an equivalent querying tool and a BI platform;

  • Strong business curiosity and the ability to dig into a number until you understand what is really driving it;

  • The ability to challenge assumptions and numbers while building trusted relationships with business partners;

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to make complex analysis clear and actionable for both finance and non-finance audiences;

  • Experience working in a complex business with multiple revenue streams or business models.

    At Lightspeed, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your skill set, qualifications, experience, and market data. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We reasonably expect the total compensation for this position to be in the range of $120k-150k Lightspeed also provides a variety of employee benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, wellness, life and disability insurance, RRSP plan and match, paid parental leave top-up, and paid time off.
