Dutch Growers needed a new POS that would nurture their growth.
Ireland Jones, Marketing Director at Dutch Growers, recalls a time before Lightspeed when they struggled with their POS system. “It was difficult to manage inventory effectively, and reporting was very limited,” she says.
As a growing business, their POS wasn’t helping them reach those goals, either. “It lacked the flexibility and the integrations we needed to grow,” says Jones.
They knew they had to make a change and—just like a plant—find more solid ground to take root in. “We needed a more modern system that could scale with our business. That’s why we switched to Lightspeed.”

One of the first areas where Dutch Growers saw a difference with Lightspeed was at checkout. During peak gardening season, they used to have “crazy” long line ups—but not anymore. “We’ve seen a dramatic change,” says Jones, “we’re able to get customers through the checkout much faster.”
They continued to see “dramatic” changes in their backend operations, too. “It’s reduced the amount of time we spend on manual inventory counts and ordering,” Jones says, “We’ve also seen improved stock accuracy.”

Across the board, Lightspeed has helped Dutch Growers find efficiencies, and gain precious time back. “Our team spends less time troubleshooting and more time engaging with customers, which has had a big impact on both morale and sales.”

Ecommerce helped their sales bloom.
The improvements to their inventory management have also impacted their ecommerce. “All of our inventory is just so seamlessly integrated from retail to ecommerce,” Jones says. Dutch Growers had to ramp up their ecommerce presence during the COVID-19 lockdowns when in-person shopping was restricted, and they did-so easily with the help of Lightspeed, “Lightspeed was amazing to work with in getting all of our products online. And still, we see great sales on our online store.”

When it comes to ecommerce, a key feature that sticks out for Jones is e-gift cards. “E-gift cards are big for us, especially on Mother’s Day” she explains. After major shopping events such as this, Dutch Growers needs to be able to reflect on their results. Lightspeed has made it easy for Jones and team with built-in reporting that’s both powerful and accessible.
The reporting and analytics have been invaluable, especially for me as a Marketing Director. Pulling those reports has been amazing, especially during peak gardening times when we’re making big decisions based on big numbers.
