Frequently asked questions.

Will this impact my current POS workflow?

Aside from two minor workflow alterations, there is no change to the POS system for your staff. These alterations are:

- Gift card workflow - U-Series Integrated Gift Cards will now be scanned utilizing the barcode on the back of the Gift Card. If you are using a third party gift card provider, Gift Cards will need to be manually entered. For more information, click here.
- Pre-authorization - Pre-authorization will need to be manually initiated utilizing the pre-auth button. More information on this change can be found here.

Will this hardware work with my existing setup?

This is an iOS-based system and the Mobile Tap readers connect to iPads and iPhones to give you both stationary and mobile options for taking orders and payments. If you are currently using Android terminals, you would need to replace them with iPads and stands. If you are currently using iPads, reach out to your Account Manager or book a call directly here to determine which hardware needs to be ordered.

Will my HQ back office look different?

Aside from some minor differences in the HQ back office, there is no change for you or your management team.

This includes:

- Loyalty - There is no loyalty integration with the Mobile Tap readers. If you are using U-Series loyalty please be aware this isn’t supported with this new processor/hardware.
- Reporting & Financials – Some reports and processes may have limitations with Mobile Tap. Development is in progress to improve integration.

Are there any costs associated with upgrading to the new hardware?

We are pleased to offer you the Mobile Tap readers at no additional cost if you choose to upgrade! Depending upon your current hardware situation, there might be additional costs involved with replacing your terminals or adding additional terminals/mobile units. Contact your Account Manager to evaluate your hardware setup and get a detailed quote of all costs before making a decision.

What help is available to help me set up the new hardware?

This hardware was designed with a thoughtful unboxing experience making it simple for any member of a busy restaurant to setup. For additional resources, check out our help article here. If you prefer to have an onsite technician come out to install your new hardware, please let your Account Manager know and they can discuss pricing options for your installation.

What hardware does this device support?

We currently offer solutions for iPhones, iPads, cases and the mobile tap reader which sits on the back of your device. If you’re currently using iPad Minis, or simply want to add a mobile solution to your operation, reach out to the account management team to discuss your options.
