Since WOODstack’s goal is to create deep and authentic community engagement, they needed to ensure behind-the-scenes operations ran smoothly. That way, the team could focus on the people walking into their store.

Before working with Lightspeed, they relied on multiple tools—including a less robust POS system—to track complex purchase orders across multiple locations in-store and online.

To scale while continuing to deliver meaningful experiences, WOODstack needed a cloud-based POS system that could handle their sophisticated operations without sacrificing ease of use. So, they set out to find a new point-of-sale system and reviewed 15 options before landing on Lightspeed.

WOODstack operates its own distribution center—a rarity for a company of its size. This was one reason Lightspeed stood out, as many smaller cloud-based POS systems lacked the functionality to manage such operations.

Lightspeed’s inventory management tools give the WOODstack team full visibility into their sell-through rates.

“It’s about buying the right amount and avoiding surplus,” says Hardeep. “The inventory tab shows sell-through rates and other key data, which directly helps us manage and optimize inventory levels.”

Plus, with the Scanner app, they can easily scan, receive and transfer inventory—ensuring each store carries the right merchandise at the right time.

“The Scanner app makes it much easier to split up the units, receive the merchandise and then get it out to the stores, making sure every part of it is accurate,” says Hardeep. “We try to keep our inventory extremely lean, so a big part of that is continuously moving it or finding where it’s most optimized.”

Powerful reporting capabilities allow WOODstack to stay on top of their complex inventory.

Andy leverages Lightspeed’s customizable reporting capabilities to analyze reports, giving him a comprehensive view of their inventory activities.

“I have some custom reports set up for me. At a glance, I can see what’s happening at the retail level and even down to the individual person making the sale,” says Andy. “It’s given us the visibility we need.”

On top of working with top streetwear brands, they have their own in-house private label called Only One, which has performed extremely well since its inception.

Lightspeed’s reporting capabilities have been key in monitoring how WOODstack’s in-house brand is performing. “It gives me a very, very detailed report on how our brand is doing so that we can react as quickly as possible,” says Andy. “Lightspeed is a critical tool for the success of our private label brand.”
