Product Designer (12 month maternity contract)

As a Product Designer in Lightspeed’s product team in Sydney, you will spend your day helping define product specifications, creating digital additions and modifications to a dynamic product line and designing fully-functional features. To be successful in this role, you should have both a good sense of design and the ability to translate design requirements into practical product features. This role is a 12 month contract with the possibility to go full time at the end of the initial term.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Help discover and understand customer needs and validate assumptions with thoughtful research techniques
  • Work with product managers and developers to help define and get specifications ready for development
  • Use research, insights, and data to inform and iterate on all design decisions
  • Develop wireframes, interaction prototypes, specifications, and other design documents to communicate design ideas to product teams
  • User testing and stakeholder reviews to validate the efficacy of your solutions
  • Be the custodian of digital experience guidelines and ensure projects are delivered on time and effectively.


What you’ll be bringing to the team:

  • You have experience designing, documenting and releasing software products, preferably cloud-based SaaS solutions and/or mobile products
  • A portfolio that showcases your design process & visual design
  • Able to execute visual designs from wireframes to production ready solutions
  • Experience of designing for mobile, tablets, and desktops
  • You are happy working as part of a global team in an open and inclusive creative environment
  • Proficiency in Figma

Even better if you have, but not necessary

  • Experience in agile environments/methods
  • Experience designing a B2B SaaS product
  • Familiar with or have participated in Design Thinking sessions
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS
