Director of Corporate Development

Lightspeed is seeking a Director of Corporate Development who will play a key role in all parts of generating, managing and executing acquisitions, and will also lead the data analytics team. This position will be based in Montreal; however, remote work with commuting is always an option. We are seeking an innovative, creative, analytical and strategic thinker. Corporate Development and Data analytics is a small, tight-knit team who values authentic, strong willed individuals that think creatively and will proactively seek out opportunities to advance Lightspeed’s growth. This role is a highly visible position that interacts with Lightspeed’s most senior leaders frequently. As the Director of Corporate Development, you will be required to handle multiple projects across a variety of business categories. You will act as the primary contact in supporting Lightspeed’s business units and senior leadership by conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, creation of strategic presentations / recommendations, acquisition term sheets and contract negotiations. Additionally, you will have a strong ability to build both internal and external relationships with the start-up and venture capital communities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of high performers and help build a team that scales with our growth
  • Acting as an internal consultant to Senior management for business analysis and strategic decision-making
  • Support the Company’s M&A strategy, including managing the acquisition pipeline, performing valuations, negotiating and closing transactions
  • Support all aspects of transaction execution including researching target companies, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, integration planning
  • Participate in the formulation of the Company’s strategic long-range planning process, develop clearly-defined milestones, monitor progress, and provide data-driven, actionable recommendations to achieve objectives
  • Calculation, analysis, and interpretation of key SAAS metrics
  • Preparing reports and developing real-time dashboards to analyze and present performance against plan
  • Providing support on complex projects and ad hoc analysis. Contributing to the design of financial models, scenarios, and sensitivities for projects and reporting requirements. Applying models and interpreting results
  • Supporting the development and implementation of data dashboards and management reports to meet the needs of all stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the business processes in place enable accurate financial information and put in place necessary corrective measures in a timely manner
  • Working on ad hoc projects as assigned; such as assessment of new business activities or change of process
  • Assisting with special requests from the Executive team


  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented, autonomous, and able to take initiative
  • Able to handle a high volume of transactions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
