Lessons from Miami

Lessons from Miami

It was a busy three days at our Partner Summit in Miami last week as 80 partners from around the world, including Bahrain, Australia, Panama, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, gathered for intense LightSpeed Cloud training.  We also had a chance to hear from some great guest speakers. Here are three key takeaways from our time in sunny South Florida.

Adapt or Die

Tarka L’Herpinier, a relentless explorer, software engineer and award-winning adventure filmmaker walked us through his journey from the Antarctic Coast to the South Pole – the longest polar expedition in history. His message: we are capable of achieving more than we ever thought possible. His presentation reminded us that adaptation, teamwork, and perseverance are the keys to success. We also heard from Patrick Yates, president of Animal Kingdom, who shared how LightSpeed’s advanced analytics helped his business compete in an increasingly competitive landscape that’s being threatened by e-commerce. “An advanced POS can truly transform a smaller business and make it more efficient and profitable. My store is a living example,” he shared.

There’s no ‘I’ in Team

LightSpeed’s partners are vital to our business. They are our eyes and ears on the street, connecting with customers in their own language. We’re constantly learning from them and their feedback is invaluable. For instance, in Miami we learned that our partners are always working on ways to help retailers use data and other LightSpeed Cloud functions that help improve loyalty. Merchants are also serious about their stores and love using data to make informed decisions. Last, they want to maximize their branding across all touch points to help cement relationships with their customers. Our partners can meet with retailers locally to demo the software, set up and implement services, and offer hands-on training and after-sales service. If you’d like to meet with a LightSpeed partner in your area, check out our partner map.

Think Global, act Global

Retailers across the world have many common needs, Patrice Derome of Opportun learned from his fellow partners. From Bahrain to the UK, they all believe in brick-and-mortar, but they face different challenges. In some countries, there’s a different mix of POS solutions, so the expectations of the clients are different. It’s great that we can meet up here and share all of the information.
